The Miami Marlins Rally in 9th to Win It in Walk-Off Fashion
- Updated: April 1, 2012
The fish were down by 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. The inning started with a single by Jeff Dominguez to center field. Next batter, Gregg Dobbs hits a fly ball single to right field to move Dominguez to third base. Tony Caldwell was up next, he batted a RBI single to score Dominguez and tying the game to 5.
Same inning, Donovan Solano does his job by hitting a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to scoring position. Clint Sammons hit a line drive single to left field to win the game in the walk-off fashion.
Other than this big rally, Hanley Ramirez hit a solo shot to center field and Logan Morrison batted a RBI double to right.
Mark Buehrle took the mound for the fish in this one. He pitched 4 struck outs, 1 walk, 7 hits, 4 runs which 3 were earn runs and he gave up a home run in 5.1 innings pitch. Buehrle finished the spring with 1 win and 1 loss in 17.2 inning pitch with an ERA of 6.62
The final score in this Spring Training finale in Jupiter was 6-5.
Next Game The Marlins open a 2 exhibition game series against the New York Yankees at Marlins Park on Sunday at 1:10 pm. Ricky Nolaseco will get the start for the Marlins, as he faces C.C Sabathia. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Florida and MLB.TV.
- Donovan Solano Demoted
The Marlins make a tough call by optioning Donovan Solano to AAA New Orleans. Donnie Murphy will stay in the Majors.
Solano was hitting .410 with three doubles and a triple in 39 at bats this spring.
The reason why they demote Solano is because that Murphy has big league experience and Solano doesn’t, it’s as simple as that.
