Stanton to miss another game due to soreness in left intercostal muscle
- Updated: September 18, 2012
Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton missed last night’s ball game against the Atlanta Braves due to a “tweak” to his left side during a Saturday night at-bat against the Reds.
Joe Frisaro reports that Giancarlo Stanton will not be in the starting lineup for tonight’s game as the Marlins are giving Stanton another day off to rest his sore left intercostal muscle.

The Marlins are expecting that he’ll be back as soon as Friday when the Fish play against the New York Mets.
Giancarlo Stanton, 22, is batting .283/.354/.595 and he’s the second home run leader in the National League with 34 homers. Ryan Braun is the current leader with 40.
