Short Interview with Jake Marisnick

MARISNICK

Jake Marisnick is a minor league outfielder in the Marlins Organization. Last season, he spent time between High-A and Double-A, where he posted a .249/.321/.399 batting with 8 home runs and 50 RBI in 120 games. Marisnick was involved in that blockbuster trade that sent shortstop Jose Reyes, right-hander Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle and other to the Blue Jays.

MN: How did you become interested in baseball? Did a family member so you how to play

JM: I grew up watching my brothers play and my dad coach and loved it from then on.

MN: How old were you when you started to play Baseball? Did you always play in the outfield?

JM: I started in t ball not sure how old I was. I played shortstop then when I was 14 I moved to center

MN: What was your favorite team growing up? Who was your favorite player?

JM: The Angels. Liked watching a lot of different guys but Torii Hunter was my favorite

MN: You were drafted in the 3rd round in 2009 how did it feel to get drafted?

JM: It was an awesome feeling one that I will never forget

MN: What has been the best and worst of being in the minors?

JM: The best is getting to meet a lot of new people and see all kinds of different places. The worst is the bus rides

MN: How excited were you when you heard you had gotten traded?

JM: I was excited but I also had a lot of great relationships with the blue jays but look forward to the new opportunities

MN: What are your goals for this season?

JM: Just to take it one day at a time and get better each day
