Ruggiano won the game for Miami in walk-off fashion
- Updated: July 30, 2012
Justin Ruggiano gave the Miami Marlins the victory in walk-off fashion in the series finale against the San Diego Padres.
Josh Johnson, who started the game, just wasn’t himself by walking 6 batters in five innings and he gave up two runs (one earned run).
But that didn’t bother the Marlins’ offense as they took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when they scored four runs thanks to a sacrifice fly by Carlos Lee, a RBI single by Justin Ruggiano and a 2-run triple by Donnie Murphy.
The Padres tied up the game in the top of the eight with a two-run home run by Yonder Alonso off Edward Mujica.
Justin Ruggiano won the game for Miami in the bottom of the tenth with a walk-off single to left field that scored Jose Reyes from second base.
The final score was five to four victory for the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins now have a two game winning streak as they head to Atlanta to face the Braves.
Next Game: Mark Buehrle will take the hill on Monday as they open a four game series against the Braves at Turner Field.
