Recap: Miami Marlins VS Arizona Diamondbacks 8/20/12
- Updated: August 21, 2012
Marlins win 12-3 over D-Backs
Game time temperature 109 degrees outside and in the Marlins dugout it must have been 120…. Arizona only 4 1/2 games back going into today’s game bring Joe Saunders to the mound to face Mark Buehrle and the Miami Marlins. Or should I say Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins?
Engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California say the rover Curiosity flexed its robotic arm Monday for the first time since before its November launch, it reached out to grab what appears to be Stanton’s home run ball from the 4th inning of today’s game!
The Game started off like any other game. Jason Kubel hitting another bomb in the first inning to take the lead 1-0. Saunders breezed through the first three innings but then the fourth inning came. Miami’s 10 hits in the fourth matched a franchise record set last September 9 at Pittsburgh, and the 12 runs and 20 hits were season highs. Giancarlo Stanton averaged a HR every 16.3 AB’s in rookie season (2010), 15.3 last year, and now averaging one every 12.8 AB’s. Stanton hit a homerun in the fourth inning and one in the seventh. He ended the night 2 for 5 with 2 HR 4 RBI’s & 2 runs scored. Reyes finishes 4 for 5 with 3 doubles and all of the marlins had multiple hits except Bonifacio.
Gibson was seen in the dugout after the 7th inning with his pad of paper writing over and over “never pitch to Stanton”.
The Marlins offensive display proved to much for the D-backs tonight.
Buehrle improves to 11-11 and Saunders drops to 6-10.
Tomorrow on the bump for the Marlins is Nolasco and Cahill for the Dbacks in a race to see who will be the first of these 2 to 10 wins.
