Preview: Marlins vs Nationals
- Updated: August 28, 2012
Today, the Miami Marlins open a two game series against the Washington Nationals at Marlins Park at 7:10 PM ET.
The Marlins are coming off a 5-6 road trip. In that eleven game span, Giancarlo Stanton went deep eight times and had twenty-four total bases. Yesterday, MLB announced that Stanton is the National League Player of the Week, so he’s clearly making up for the time he missed.
Tonight, Ricky Nolasco (9-12) will be starting for the Miami Marlins. In his last outing, he went five innings and ended up getting the no-decision. Also, in his last eight starts he’s 1-6 with a 6.70 ERA.
Meanwhile, Washington will go with their ace Stephan Strasburg (15-5). He’s 3-0 with an ERA of 2.00 with 23 strikeouts in his last three starts. This season against the Marlins, he’s 2-0 and hasn’t allowed a run in 18 innings.
