Ozzie Guillen is a goner?

5

According to Buster Onley of ESPN, the Miami Marlins are aggressively seeking a replacement for Ozzie Guillen.

In Ozzie Guillen’s first year of managing the Marlins, the team finished with a record of 69 wins and 93 losses. Also, it’s Guillen’s worst year as a major league manager.

Ozzie Guillen still has three more years on his contract left and he’s getting $10 million, $2.5 million per year.

Some potential replacements could be Mike Lowell, Brad Ausmus and Tampa Bay’s bench coach Dave Martinez.

I think Ozzie should stay, at least for another season. He did what he could with an extremely depleted roster -injuries and severe underperformings- and, as he said before, every single member of the organization -from Loria to the clubhouse attendants- is to blame for what happened during this nightmare of a season.

If the Marlins want to fire somebody, they should get rid of Bell, Buck, Gaudin, Dunn and Morrison, not Ozzie.

One small correction: the Fish’s record was 69-93, not 69-73. Had it been that way, they would’ve been playing in Japan, whose league has a 144-game schedule.
