New Look Marlins Face Old Manager in Atlanta
- Updated: May 16, 2012
Yesterday in the final game of a two game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Miami Marlins’ offense finally helped Josh Johnson get his first win of the season in a 6-2 victory. Tonight, the Marlins open up a 2-game series away at Atlanta against the Atlanta Braves.
First pitch is at 7:10 PM ET at Turner Field with Mark Buehrle (2-4) starting on the mound for Miami. He’s still getting used to the National League after spending most of his career in the American League. In his last outing, he lasted 6 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits and two runs while walking two and striking out three in a no-decision against the New York Mets.
For the Braves tonight, Mike Minor (2-2) will be the starting pitcher following a horrendous start last time around. He allowed 6 runs among 8 hits in just 4.2 innings, but struck out 7 and received a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals.
In the last five years, Mark Buehrle has gone 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA with a 1.67 WHIP and 4 strikeouts against the Braves. On the other side, Mike Minor is 0-0 with an ERA of 6.46 with a 1.63 WHIP and 16 strikeouts against the Marlins in the same time span.
Note: Omar Infante was in a mini slump by going 0-for-11 in the last 2 games, but he finally broke out of it on Tuesday following his bunt single in the 3rd inning as he finished up the night 4-for-5.
The game will be televised on Fox Sports Florida and can be heard on the radio at WAXY 790, WAQI 710 (Spanish).
