  • Former Marlins reliever Terry Mathews passes away at age 47.

He died of a heart attack Friday, Feb. 24, in his hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana. Mathews played with the fish in 1994 to mid 1996, where he was traded to the Orioles for catcher Gregg Zaun. In 8 years as a professional player he went 22-21 and 4.25 ERA in 324 appearances for the Rangers, Orioles, Royals and the Marlins.
