Marlins Vs Diamonbacks 8/20/12 preview
- Updated: August 20, 2012
Today’s game between the Miami Marlins and the Arizona Diamondbacks will feature the homerun power of Giancarlo Stanton and Arron Hill. Stanton is batting .257 with 5 runs, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 2 BB, in the last 10 games. Stanton hit so many homeruns in his last series with Colorado he was getting the Barry Bonds treatment. With Emilio Bonifacio back in the line up for the Marlins Jose Reyes and Stanton do not have to carry the full work load. Bonifacio is 5 for 10 against Saunders and Carlos Lee is 6 for 14, so the Marlins are liking their odds in todays matchup between Joe Saunders 6-9, 3.70 ERA and Mark Buehrle 10-11, 3.74 ERA.
Key to the game:
Look for the Marlins to be aggressive early on the base path and to attack the first pitch strike of lefty Joe Saunders who is coming back from a thumb injury. The Dbacks need to keep the long ball a part of their strategy and Chris Young & Arron Hill must stay hot. They also need help from their bullpen if they wish to chase down the Giants and Dodgers for 1st place.
Prediction: Marlins win by 2 ( Stanton & Reyes both have a multi hit game)
