Marlins sign OF Austin Kearns To A Minor League Contract

Marlins have signed out fielder Austin Kearns to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

Kearn, 31, returned last year with the Cleveland Indians and batted 2 HR with 7 RBI with a Batting Average of .200 in 57 games played before he was designated for assignment on August 12, 2011 to make room on the active roster for the return of Shin-Soo Choo from the disabled list. Kearns was released on August 17.
His best year was in 2006 in which he played for 2 teams, Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals. He batted .264 with 24 HR with 86 RBI in 150 games played.
