Marlins Nation’s Job Application!
- Updated: April 2, 2012
Marlins fans, this season is sure to be a very special season. It will be our first as the Miami Marlins, and of course, our first in our own retractable roof ball-park. Here is your chance to have a hand in a part of Marlins and baseball history. This site was created by a young fellow Marlins fans to allow fans to give their own perspective on all things Marlins. You dont have to have any prior writing experience – In fact, you can use your time on this site to gain some experience in the field of journalism/broadcasting as I am for the future. There is no age limit to the people who can join – No gender restrictions either. All that is asked of you is to be dedicated and loyal to the site. Making one post per day, or even a week depending on assignment would be good enough.
We want to make this site as good as any newspaper or beat writers blog as a source of information to fans regarding all things Marlins.
As of right now, we have 4 fairly active writers – But, we would like people to join and provide the site with something different. Once the season starts we may re-assign people to different jobs to help the site.
The jobs that are available are:
Graphics personel – Your job would be to post videos of marlins games/highlights and interviews. You will be helpful in the sense that when a writer does a report on something you can provide their article/post/blog with a video or pictures concerning the topic they are discussing.
Editor – For this position, a little experience would be extremly helpful as would having a good grasp on gramatical skills. You will be helpful in that, as you may know, when someone is writing something there mind is occupied with too many thoughts to try and put together and thats how gramatical errors are made or even cause writers to write the wrong information. Your job will be to check a writers work for gramatical errors etc before the post is made official on the site.
Writers – For the writers job, there are specific assignments. First, we would want someone who can write a pre and post game report. Someone that covers Marlins injuries.
And, someone that covers the Marlins minor league players and minor league teams. Also, a writer who focuses on the different incoming draft prospects and how they may fit into the organization based on needs and philosphy.
Also, though the Marlins have only been around since 1993 (19 yrs), in sports terms that is a fairly short time this team has had a lot of highlight moments in those years. We would like someone who can do a blog titled “ This date in Marlins history” in which maybe a post or two a day might be required where you write about a significant event that occured on that day in Marlins history in past years.
In-game blogger/poster – We would like to have someone who would be willing to blog and interact with fans during actual games. This would be a fun way to watch the game and talk about it as it is going on.
Researchers and Statistician – As I said before, a writer has a lot in mind already with what he is going to write about. A lot of times, he has planned ideas of what to write about. But a person who is in charge of researching informative facts and stats for an article would be really helpful, too. You could be considered and thought of as a “source” as many of you may have heard that term used when your read about news.
Through psn-radio.com Marlins nation also has a radio show online as another source of fan interaction. At this point in time, this particular area is already being covered by a few people – But if your interested in the position, it may one day become available and you can be considered for the job at a later time.
These job opportunities is for fun, we do not pay. Well not yet maybe in the future.
So if your interested in helping us out please contact us via twitter at www.twitter.com/Marlins_Nation or @Marlins_Nation

You can also email us at marlinsnation@hotmail.com or you can email me paolo_heat02@hotmail.com.
The season is right around the corner! It starts Wednesday. Be apart of history in your own way. At this point, the site isnt very big but YOU can help it become a big site and a site that not only fans look into for Marlins related news, but also some of the best and better know writers too. As I said before, like me, you can use this as a place to gain experience if your interested in getting into the broadcasting , journalism or public relations field. You can use it as a portfolio or resume for future job applications or school. Lets go Fish!
