Marlins Facts: Oviedo, AJ Ramos, Bonifacio

San Diego Padres v Miami Marlins

The Marlins enter today’s game with the sixth worst winning percentage in all of baseball.

  • Earlier today, the Miami Marlins moved Juan Carlos Oviedo to the sixty-day disable list. Oviedo had a successful Tommy John surgery but he’s unlikely to return with the Miami Marlins next season.
  • The Marlins have selected AJ Ramos from Double-A to take Oviedo‘s spot on the active roster. In fifty-five games this season, Ramos had a record of three wins and three losses with an ERA of 1.44 and 21 saves with the Jacksonville Suns.
  • Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post reports that Emilio Bonifacio has been shut down for the rest of the season.

Via the Fish Tank: Bonifacio, on the disabled list since Aug. 22 with a right knee sprain, had hoped to play the final two weeks of the season. But he said he and the team have agreed to shut it down so he can return to spring training healthy.

Emilio Bonifacio ended the year batting .258/.330/.645 with one home run and eleven RBI’s and thirty stolen bases in sixty-four games.
