Giancarlo Stanton Named NL Player of the Week
- Updated: August 27, 2012
After nearly missing a month of baseball because of an injury in his right knee that needed surgery. Giancarlo Stanton had to miss the Home Run Derby and the MLB All Star Game this season.
Stanton would make up for that as he has been named National League Player of the Week thanks to five homers with twenty-four total bases and an .857 slugging percentage.
Not only that, Giancarlo Stanton went deep eight times in a eleven game road trip. According to Elias, Stanton tied the franchise record for most home runs over an eleven game span.
Mike Lowell hit eight homers for the Marlins over an 11-game span during the 2002 and 2003 seasons; Dan Uggla hit eight homers in 11 games in 2008 and he did it again in 2010.
