Eovaldi struck out five in his debut with Miami; Reyes, Ruggiano both homer in 4-2 win
- Updated: July 29, 2012
Nathan Eovaldi was magnificent in his debut with the Marlins; Reyes, Ruggiano both went deep in 4-2 victory.
Nathan Eovaldi, who was recently acquired from the Dodgers for Hanley Ramirez, made his debut with the Miami Marlins.
Despite his terrible numbers because surprisingly he never got run support with the Dodgers, Eovaldi did a great job in his debut.
The twenty-two year old struck out five batters in 5.1 innings and he improved his record to two wins and six losses.
Eovaldi wasn’t the only one that played well. Jose Reyes expanded his hitting streak to fifthteen game with a two run homer. Justin Ruggiano also went deep in this game.
Edward Mujica got out of Eovaldi’s problem in the sixth as he got the last two outs. Mujica pitched until the seventh. Mike Dunn gave up a run in the eight but he got out of the inning. Steve Cishek got the save as he had a 1-2-3 inning.
Miami snaped a three game losing streak as they defeated San Diego four to two in Miami.
Next Game: Josh Johnson will be the starting pitcher for the Marlins in the series finale at 1:10 PM ET at Marlins Park.
