Don’t lose faith Marlins fans

For every Marlin fan out there, we were all expecting the best but got the worst. No one would’ve expected such a ugly season. As of right now we are just seeing our team play for pride. But a lost season shouldn’t take away that excitement looking forward into next season.

Two things that the Marlins that have me excited for next year is money and Giancarlo Stanton.

The Marlins have plenty of it since we basically traded half the team this season. The money can easily be used to invest in Stanton long term and watch the best player to ever wear the Marlins uniform. He will soon enough be consider as a MVP candidate.

There are certain interesting ball players whose contracts expire after the end of the season making them free agents. So why not use that money to fill every need to make this club a playoff contender.

I don’t work for the front office, so I have no idea what they have in mind. But where I would start off is pitching. Josh Johnson has had an inconsistent year, Mark Buerle has been average, and Ricky Nolasco seems always to get knocked around.

We have young pitchers but they need time to develop, hopefully during the offseason. We need pitchers and that’s the bottom line.

The outfield with Logan Morison, Stanton and that mystery center fielder must be addressed. Shane Victorino is headed to free agency and wouldn’t it be nice have speed in all three positions, especially in a big ballpark.

The catching position is up in the air, John Buck doesn’t have a bat and the rookie, Rob Brantly, has shown signs of life. Go with the rookie.

The Marlins aren’t dead yet and with a good offseason this team could be dangerous

Your impression of the outfield next year is incorrect. Logan Morrison is not an outfielder and would never have been considered one if Gaby Sanchez hadn’t hit early in his Marlins career. Logan will be playing regularly or platooning at 1B in 2013 unless he is somehow traded which I don’t believe will happen. Either way, he is no longer the Marlins leftfielder.
The only outfield spot that is set is Stanton in RF. Where Bonifacio starts in 2013 will depend on the availability of 2nd basemen and Centerfielders with speed and high OBPs during the winter. Whichever spot the Marlins can reel in, Bonifacio will take the other.
That leaves LF which is normally a position reserved for a big RBI, power guy. I don’t believe the Marlins will go that route though. My belief is that the top priorites for anyone joining this team will be speed, high obp, defense, and being young/under control for a few years.

Thanks for the comment, and yeah you’re right that Morrison isn’t a pure outflelder. I doubt the Marlins will resign Lee but the fact his Morrison hasn’t been the hitter we need him to be. A possible factor to that could be his knees. We can’t put him at first base either if he isn’t hitting, look what happened to Sanchez. We will see what happens with Morrison and the Marlins.
