Cespedes Visited The Miami Marlins On Wednesday
- Updated: February 9, 2012
On Wednesday, the Cuban sensation officially met with the Marlins where he got a tour of the new ballpark, and a free lunch. However, Yoenis Cespedes didn’t get an offer from the Marlins.
The Marlins are currently favored to sign Cespedes, however 6 other teams are also interested: Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Indians

Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, 26, hit .333 with 33 homers and 99 RBI for the Cuban national team in the 2010-11 season.
We’d be lucky to sign him as the outfielder, 26, hit .333 with 33 homers and 99 RBI for the Cuban national team in the 2010-11 season. There’s one catch, though…. Cespedes has not been legally cleared by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. This means Cespedes can’t sign a contract until the OFAC clears him.
According to ESPN, Cespedes will return to the Dominican Republic. His agent said “nothing is scheduled for now” when they asked him which team would you meet next.
